Brian and Brenda Kouwenhoven have worked together in the insurance industry together since 1986, having married while with RUMGER Insurance Company, a direct writer of professional liability insurance in the state of Florida. Brenda joined RUMGER as Risk Manager in 1988, visiting hundreds of Florida law firms providing on-site risk management services. She is the author of numerous articles on risk management, and has conducted or participated in dozens of continuing legal education seminars for lawyers and legal administrators on the subject of risk management. Brenda holds a B.S. degree in Business Management from Florida State University. Brian joined RUMGER in 1989 as their first sales representative and in 1992 was appointed Sales Manager of a team of five representatives. He was directly responsible for a $12 million book of business for the company and remained in that position until the RUMGER portfolio was purchased by a major national insurer. Brian holds a B.S. degree in Risk Management & Insurance from Florida State University. In November 1993, Brenda and Brian founded Kouwenhoven & Associates, Inc. an independent agency specializing solely in professional liability insurance for lawyers and doctors. Brenda and Brian agree that their greatest personal accomplishments are their three sons, Kevin, born in January 1994; Connor, born in July 1997 and Cameron born in May 2002.
